newtube [scenario]A connection is made to the default KappaCCD server, and the power on the tube is slowly built up.
The "siemens" scenario slowly raises power from 20kV to 60kV, 5mA in 8 steps steps as indicated in the Siemens tube manual. This process takes about 20 minutes. This procedure should be followed for new tubes, and for tubes that have been removed from the system and have been inactive for 5 days or more.
The "siemens-fast" scenario slowly raises power from 20kV to 60kV, 5mA in 8 steps steps as indicated in the Siemens tube manual. This process takes about 16 minutes. This procedure should be followed for tubes that have been removed from the system and have been inactive for between 1 and 4 days.
The "siemens-xfast" scenario slowly raises power from 20kV to 60kV, 5mA in 8 steps steps as indicated in the Siemens tube manual. This process takes about 12 minutes. This procedure should be followed for tubes that have been inactive for less than 24 hours.
The "sealed" scenario slowly raises power from 20kV to 60kV, 10mA in 6 steps as indicated in the Philips tube manual. This process takes about 20 minutes. This procedure should be followed for tubes that have been removed from the system and have been inactive for 4 days or more.
The "sealed-fast" scenario does the same but 3 times quicker. This can be used if the tube has recently (more than 24 hours but less than 100 hours ago) been used, or if the tube has not been removed from the system. If the tube has stayed in the system, and has been used less than 24 hours ago, the heatup procedure does not need to be performed at all.
If the "classic" scenario is selected, the power is slowly raised to 60kV, 10mA in steps of 1kV and 1mA. This process takes about 5 minutes.
For a filament change on a 591 rotating anode generator, the "filament591" scenario can be used. On this generator an additional "Tube conditioning" option is available from the front panel.
Before using the "newtube" program, please verify the instructions in your tube manuals, and make sure "newtube" is using the right procedure.
